During two years since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the UDF has reached out and supported thousands of people with diabetes (PWD) across the country, providing vital assistance to those who need it most.
There are over a million people with diabetes in Ukraine who need humanitarian assistance. Half of them are disabled or elderly people who need vital humanitarian aid primarily in the areas most affected by the ongoing war. In 2024, UDF has set the following priorities for itself
1. Humanitarian aid directly to the neediest people with diabetes:
2. Supporting diabetes clinics and hospitals with equipment and information:
3. Diabetes literacy, including therapeutic education for PWD. (This is the main priority of the UDF in peacetime)
4. The project " Be careful: diabetes is nearby": Screening for diabetes.
5. Project "Seeing Colorful World": Screening for diabetic retinopathy (DR) using AI
6. Planning and building the future to improve the diabetes care system:
We will focus on solving as many problems as possible in a comprehensive manner, relying primarily on our own strength and enthusiasm, as well as on the participation and support of partners and donors.

- glucometers with test strips (for measuring blood sugar)
- CGM (devices for continuous blood sugar monitoring, especially for pregnant women)
- Glucagon (a drug for emergency injection to a person with diabetes who has lost consciousness due to a sharp drop in blood sugar)
- Emergency first aid kits and food supplies
2. Supporting diabetes clinics and hospitals with equipment and information:
- Blood glucose monitoring devices and other equipment as requested
3. Diabetes literacy, including therapeutic education for PWD. (This is the main priority of the UDF in peacetime)
4. The project " Be careful: diabetes is nearby": Screening for diabetes.
5. Project "Seeing Colorful World": Screening for diabetic retinopathy (DR) using AI
6. Planning and building the future to improve the diabetes care system:

- Project "Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes and its Complications" as an effective tool for optimizing budget expenditures on diabetes
